Chipping Warden Primary Academy Governing Body
The role of the Board of Governors is to manage the school with a view to providing the best possible education and educational opportunities for all of the pupils in a supportive caring environment. We work closely with the Head and the Staff to achieve this by:
- a. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
b. Holding the Head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
c. Oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
d. Monitoring and evaluating school performance
e. Promoting self-evaluation to sustain school improvement.
The governing body meets once every half term, we receive a detailed report from the Head teacher, we discuss any major issues for the school and approve the annual budget.
There are also a number of sub-committees which meet throughout the school year. Each governor is a member of at least one committee. These include:
- Finance and Premises Committee
- Learning and Achievement Committee
- Personnel and Pay Committee
- Admissions Committee
In addition to the formal meetings the governors also get involved with school matters in a variety of other ways: The Chair regularly meets with the Head teacher to undertake interim reviews of any issues the school may be having. All of the Governors have dedicated subjects and areas of responsibilities which will require class room visits to observe lessons. As governors we are actively involved in the life of the school, some as parents as well as governors, but all of us making regular visits to see the work of the school and acting as a 'Critical friend' to the Head teacher and staff of the school.
Our Governing Body is made up of four Parent Governors elected by the parents of the children attending the school, four Community Governors who may also have children that attend the school and are people living or working in the community served by the school.
